Much more than just beer at Algarve Beer Fest

Beer may be the star at the first Algarve Beer Fest, but food will also be an important part of the event, even if only to keep the drinking under control! The Beer Fest will take place at Albufeira’s Praça dos Pescadores, starting on June 26.
The four-day festival – which will be showcasing over 40 home-made beers from 10 countries – will also feature a number of gastronomic workshops and show cooking events, as well as a varied line-up of musical acts.
On June 27 at around 7pm, Master Chef Portugal runner-up Luís Mourão will be demonstrating a variety of recipes that can be combined “perfectly” with the home-made beers showcased in the festival.
Then on June 28 and 29, it is the turn of Docapesca (which operates at Portugal’s fishing ports) to lead the show cooking events, focusing on the secrets of cooking octopus and mackerel.
Musical performances can be enjoyed throughout the four days starting each evening at 9pm, with performances by the Rancho Folclórico de Albufeira on June 26, the Mo Blues Trio (27), Do Dat Dixie (28) and Al-Fanfare (29).
The festival, organised by the local borough council, will also feature a friendly competition entitled ‘Beer Games’, which promises to award the winners with free beer and even a hot-air balloon ride!
Entry to the festival is free. It is open from 5pm and midnight.
