Victim’s neighbour “in shock”
The body of a woman in her 50s has been discovered in a burnt-out car in Miranda do Corvo.
Firefighters called to the scene on Monday night were unaware there was anyone in the car. The alert that went out referred only to a vehicle ablaze in a carpark in the area of Quinta da Paiva. But once they had doused the flames, they were met by the macabre sight of a completely carbonized body.
Yesterday, “all scenarios were open”, writes tabloid Correio da Manhã. It will be left to an autopsy to guide investigators as to what exactly happened. Is this a case of murder, or one of suicide?
Certainly the woman’s neighbour, named as José Rodrigues Francisco, has been described as “in shock”, telling the paper that she was a very much esteemed person.
