Nationalist Mário Machado, facing a two-year 10 month jail term for ‘seven words written over social media’ (suggesting that all women in the Bloco de Esquerda should be forced into prostitution) has said he wants to seek political asylum in the United States. The former gang leader has said his “first step is to get the attention, via Twitter (meaning social network ‘X’) of millionaire (sic) Elon Musk”. To this end, various posts are currently circulating, while Machado is in the process of appealing his jail term to the Constitutional Court.
