Frigate D. Francisco de Almeida left the Navy’s base in Alfeite, Lisbon, yesterday to join a three-and-a-half month NATO mission in the north Atlantic/ North Sea/ Sea of Norway and Baltic . With 167 crew on board, the mission will involve “vigilance and the capacity of dissuasion” in line with the defence of the Atlantic Alliance. The frigate is due to visit various ports including UK’s Liverpool and Glasgow.
