Negotiations with doctors and nurses to start “very soon”

Minister of Health, Ana Paula Martins, has announced that the doctors’ and nurses’ unions have already been contacted to start negotiations in a fortnight’ time. Ms Martins was speaking on the sidelines of the conference “Challenges of Vaccination and Global Health: Present and Future”, organised by the Pharmaceutical Industry Association (Apifarma) in the context that nurses at least have a five-day strike scheduled imminently. She told reporters: “Dialogue goes both ways, so it’s very important to listen to the unions, to realise that they certainly bring us information from the field about what the professionals experience and that is what we’re here for, to take on board their suggestions”.
