New Algarve Stadium website launched

The stadium can host corporate events, as well as other sports such as rugby and motorsports

A new website to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Algarve Stadium has been launched by the Association of Loulé/Faro Municipalities.

Says the association, the new website – www.estadioalgarve.pt – aims to strengthen the stadium’s position as a “sports icon” and highlight its “versatility as an ideal location for large-scale corporate events.”

“This new portal will provide users a more interactive and informative experience, highlighting the many options and resources that the Algarve Stadium offers for the hosting of business events,” it adds.

Local authorities have been trying to put the stadium to good use in recent years, given that it was built specifically for the Euro 2024 but has rarely seen any top-level football action since then, apart from sporadic national team matches.

The stadium was used for some years as the home stadium of the Gibraltar national men’s football team and is sometimes an alternative home venue for regional clubs.

Having the stadium also act as a venue for corporate events, as well as other sports such as rugby and motorsports, has been a strategy that the local councils of Faro and Loulé have been pursuing to keep the stadium from standing abandoned for large chunks of the year.
