Production of energy from wind farms in Portugal reached a new all-time high at 5.30 pm on Tuesday, with a peak of 4,917 megawatts (MW), REN, the company that manages the country’s energy grids has said today. According to the company, the figure recorded corresponded to 63% of national electricity consumption at that time. On Tuesday, electricity consumption totalled 167 gigawatts (GWh), with a peak of 8,553 MW at 7.30 pm, and renewable production supplied 88% of national consumption and the export balance, with wind power accounting for 42%.
