New measures could push public finances back into red, says central bank

The Bank of Portugal warned on Friday that measures approved recently by the government risk pushing the public sector finances back into the red in the coming years, in its June Economic Bulletin, released on Friday, which contains forecasts for the public accounts.

According to the document, “the approval and announcement of new measures with a budgetary impact in the weeks prior to the publication of this bulletin affects the assessment of the situation of public finances in Portugal in the coming years.”
