New mystery as second floating body discovered, this time in Faro

There is further mystery in the Algarve this weekend as a second anonymous ‘floater’ has been found, without any missing person report having been filed.

The ‘new’ body was discovered early on Friday morning by a passer-by.

This follows the discovery of a woman, further east near Tavira, on Tuesday – also described as ‘unidentified’ (click here).

Say reports, the second body was that of man, thought to have been in his 40s.

It was fully clothed, floating face-downwards roughly 500 metres from Faro’s commercial dock area.

Sources for the Maritime Police have said the dead man ‘could be a foreigner’.

Ports commander Carlos Lope is quoted as having told local journalists that there were also no visible signs of aggression, thus the next step will be an autopsy to establish cause/s of death.

This is the same procedure that the first body will have to go through – as this too showed no apparent reasons for having ended up in the water, nor signs of violence.
