A ‘new’ drug that “delays the symptoms of progression” of Parkinson’s Disease is finally available in Portugal.
The announcement came this week from national pharmaceutical company Bial.
Bial’s president António Portela said the medication “reduces the off stage” of the disease (where patients bodies become rigid) by at least two hours.
The drug – commercialised under the name Ongentys – has been available in some European countries (Germany, UK and Spain) for almost two years.
The reason for the delay in its becoming available here has been down to “the negotiation process”, explained Portela.
