New PJ forensic laboratory inaugurated on force’s 79th anniversary

Portugal’s PJ police force is celebrating its 79th anniversary today with the inauguration of its new Digital Forensic Laboratory, equipped with ‘state of the art technology’ and ‘the latest technological innovations’. The laboratory promises to be the place where “all the work of analysing evidence extracted in the laboratory is carried out, where computer and digital equipment is dismantled, examined and data extracted to the laboratory’s centralised storage”. A ceremony to open this new facility is taking place this afternoon, in the presence of prime minister Luís Montenegro, Minister of Justice Rita Alarcão Júdice, and the new Attorney General Amadeu Guerra.
