New Portimão road to link EN125 and industrial area

Road is due to be completed by the start of 2025

Portimão Council has announced the construction of a new road linking the EN125 national road to the town’s Vale da Arrancada industrial area.

The €700,000 works are due to begin in August and be completed by the start of 2025.

Says the council, the goal is to divert a “significant amount of traffic which daily passes through the northern area of the town”.

Currently, drivers coming from the EN125 have to use the town’s busy entrance road near the Portimão Hospital area to reach the industrial area.

The new road – which will be built between the future Nova Vila Retail Park and the EMARP municipal water company headquarters – will provide much easier access to the industrial area, especially for heavy and commercial vehicles, the council stresses.

The municipal authority also says the project has taken into account that a “significant quantity of affordable housing” is due to be built nearby – in other words, the new road will also ensure that the intense traffic flow is kept away from these future residential areas.
