Pedro Baptista is succeeding José Amaro, the club’s president for over 40 years
Pedro Baptista has been elected as the new president of Moto Clube Faro, succeeding José Amaro, who led the organisation for over 40 years since its founding in 1982.
The announcement was made via the official Facebook page of the club, which every year organises Faro’s famous bikers’ rally.
“Hello, motorcyclists! We have fresh news for all two-wheel enthusiasts who are part of the great Moto Clube Faro family,” began the club’s statement. “After an energetic election, we’re thrilled to announce that the new board has been elected and is ready to take the helm of this remarkable great institution.”
According to the statement, the new team comprises people who “love motorbikes, challenges and our community.”
Pedro Baptista, better known as ‘Baja’, has been a member of Moto Clube Faro for over 20 years, having served in various roles, including positions on the fiscal council and general assembly board.
“This is a great responsibility,” Baptista told Barlavento. “I’ve been part of the board for 18 years, witnessing every election and event. I’ve always had a deep love for motorcycles and felt it was time to step forward. With a team I trust wholeheartedly, I believe we can take Moto Clube Faro even further”.
Acknowledging the work of his predecessor, Baptista emphasised that the foundations laid by José Amaro will guide the club’s future. “I do not undervalue what has been done until now,” he said, adding that the new board will continue “defending motorcycling at both national and international levels, just as Moto Clube Faro has always done.”
