Private health group Lusíadas Saúde has announced the opening of its new hospital in Vilamoura.
Representing a €10 million investment, the new Hospital Lusíadas Vilamoura is located at Largo das Estrelas within the iconic Lusotur building – owned by Vilamoura World and designed by architect Francisco Keil do Amaral – which has been renovated.
The hospital is described as “the first in the south of Portugal dedicated exclusively to outpatient surgery,” offering 24-hour services and boasting over 20 doctor’s surgeries, treatment rooms, surgery rooms, a gastroenterology unit, and a medical imaging area.
Patients will be under the care of a “specialised and experienced” medical team which will have “state-of-the-art” medical equipment at its disposal, including MRIs, CT scans, X-rays, mammography and ultrasonography, the health group says.

“Hospital Lusíadas Vilamoura will thus improve the access to healthcare and contribute to the socioeconomic development of the region in a lasting and sustainable way,” the CEO adds.
The new hospital has joined the other Lusíadas health units in the Algarve – Hospital Lusíadas Albufeira, Clínica Lusíadas Faro and Clínica Lusíadas Forum Algarve.
The Lusíadas Saúde expansion plan focuses on “opening units in new geographical locations” as well as “strengthening the response of already-existing units,” the group says, adding that aside from its recent investments in Santa Maria da Feira, Paços de Ferreira, Monsanto and Alenquer, it has also announced the acquisition of the Dr.Well’s clinics.
