Infrastructure minister Miguel Pinto Luz has said today that the government is going to insist on reducing VAT to the minimum rate of 6% for housing rehabilitation and construction works. During a hearing in the Economy Committee, he stressed the ambition is “a challenge, a call to all parties”, since the minority government’s attempt to bring VAT down in this regard in the 2025 State Budget was vetoed by parties’ tactical action.
