New record as air traffic control handles 7.5% more flights in 2024

NAV Portugal controlled 917,000 IFR (Instrument Flight Rules) flights in Portuguese airspace in 2024 – 7.5% more than the previous year and a new annual high, the air navigation service provider announced today, saying it had also managed to reduce average delays per controlled movement by 14%.

NAV’s executive chairman, Pedro Ângelo, considered the reduction “a considerable achievement and a testament to the professionalism and dedication” of the employees.
