HAVING FOUND it difficult to purchase birthday cards in the Algarve, friends Elaine May and Margo Mitchell decided it was time to open their own specialist shop.
Margo had several years experience in the business before moving to Portugal and brought that knowledge and experience to CARDS, which opened in May.
There is an extensive range of products in the shop, including helium and air balloons, party poppers, glassware, wrapping paper, gift bags, banners, novelties and more, so every client is bound to find what they are looking for. “Our range has been carefully chosen, with some fantastic ideas for children’s themed parties including matching party invites, plates and party bags,” said Elaine.
To keep up with new trends and ideas, the shop is constantly evolving with new lines of products to ensure that all events are covered, from holy communions to birthdays, wedding anniversaries, engagements and confirmations.
Cake service
To complement the shop, Margo offers a home-made cake service called FEMS, whereby cakes, sweet and savoury pies and desserts can be ordered via the shop for any occasion and delivered directly to clients homes or collected from the shop.
Elaine said: “The name FEMS derives from all of our names, Francesca my daughter, Elaine, Margo and Smudge the cat!”
CARDS is open Monday to Saturday, 9.30am until 6.30pm. It is located on Rua Moinho do Azeite, Lote 1 b, loja F, Lagos, next to the Pirilampo restaurant.
