NGO calls for Portugal to address human rights violations in Hong Kong

An NGO is calling for Portugal to “stand up for its values” and address the human rights violations in Hong Kong during a visit by the Chinese region’s Secretary for Financial Services.

“EU member states should not be lured into Hong Kong’s “vibrant fintech scene” in exchange for covering up a growing number of political prisoners, diminished judicial independence and violations of international legal obligations,” says the co-founder and president of Hong Kong Watch, Benedict Rogers.
