Professor Raimund Gregorius’s life is well ordered but monotonous and predictable. After a chance encounter with a Portuguese woman he finds a mysterious philosophical book written by Amadeu Prado, a Portuguese doctor, revolutionary and philosopher. Raimund quits his job and travels to Lisbon on a quest to find him, meeting a wide variety of people who reveal who Amadeu was and of the unspoken truths of the Portuguese revolution.
