Nouvelle Vague celebrates the 20th anniversary of the release of its first studio album with a world tour and a guaranteed visit to Portugal. In December, seven shows are scheduled from the north to the south of the country.
Symbiose.pt, Portugal’s oldest independent record label and online record store, presents the national tour. It is responsible for the exclusive worldwide edition of the collective’s only two live albums: «Aula Magna» (2008, 2xCD and DVD) and «Acoustic» (2009).

Twenty years after the eponymous album’s release that made them world famous, Nouvelle Vague is back.
Marc Collin, co-founder of the French movement with the late Olivier Libaux, says that he never thought that the bold idea of paying tribute to the writing of songs from the post-punk era with bossa nova, a true phenomenon of reinvention and global creativity would be born.
Nouvelle Vague’s influence is undeniable, with their versions of songs finding new audiences and inspiring other artists.
The project gave birth to a new way of listening to and interpreting post-punk classics, something that continues to this day, which is why Collin returned to the studio to record the project’s fifth album, «Should I Stay Or Should I Go», released last February.
More than covers, Nouvelle Vague reinvents post-punk classics from the early 2000s, maintaining their melancholy and infusing them with an air of Bossa Nova. Along the way, it reveals iconic singers such as Camille, Melanie Pain, and Phoebe Killdeer.
Part of its longevity is due to the fact that Nouvelle Vague rarely repeats itself. Although they have long since extended their mandate to include different styles of music, they still maintain the essence of “not being afraid to take risks, test, and explore whatever musical aesthetics emerge in a studio session”.
