Popular captain Leleco – he often joins fans in the local café after games – has thanked supporters via the club’s website for their support during these troubled times. Goalkeeper Moura and midfield Tiago Jogo followed suit along with video messages.
The Brazilian Tiago Jogo confirmed that the foreign players were being well looked after by the Italian-financed SAD (Sociedade Anónima Desportiva), the ‘public limited sports company’ arm of Sporting Clube Olhanense.
On Monday, April 27, the club would normally have celebrated its 108th anniversary. Olhanense, top of the Campeonato de Portugal Division D when the league was suspended, are still awaiting a final decision from the Portuguese Football Association regarding the promotion and format of next season’s leagues.
