Open Media events: South Africa and Vilamoura seminars in November

Events offer advice on residential visas, legal matters, taxation, healthcare, insurance, relocation and real estate.

Open Media’s event schedule of Living in the Algarve and Living in Portugal” seminars for 2024 comes to a close with the final events of the year taking place next month.

Following the success of last November’s South Africa roadshow in Johannesburg and Cape Town, a further city, Pretoria, has been added to this year’s schedule.

“We had a huge turn-out in Johannesburg last year,” said Open Media CEO and event organiser Bruce Hawker.

“We were literally too busy in Jo’Burg and, speaking to people at the event, we found that many had travelled from Pretoria, which is 45-minute to one-hour drive, so it made sense to add an event in Pretoria between the dates of our Jo’Burg and and Cape Town shows”.

The events, offering advice to South Africans who are planning on moving to Portugal will be held on Saturday, November 2 in Jo’Burg, Tuesday, November 5 in Pretoria and Saturday, November 9 in Cape Town.

Expert speakers will be presenting at the seminars and exhibiting, offering advice on matters such as residential visas, legal matters, taxation, healthcare, insurance, relocation and real estate.

Closer to home here in Portugal, November 21 will see Open Media’s final show of the year take place with the “Living in the Algarve” seminar event at the Anantara resort in Vilamoura.

This year has seen Open Media stage a total of 17 events covering Austin, Atlanta, Boston, New York, Chicago, San Francisco, Seattle, Los Angeles, Toronto, Johannesburg, Pretoria and Cape Town in South Africa as well as five events here in the Algarve staged in Carvoeiro, Lagos, Tavira, Quinta do Lago and Vilamoura.

2025

A similar schedule is planned for 2025, including the first USA roadshow of the year covering Houston, Philadelphia and Boston in March. “It’s been a very busy year for us, working closely with all of the companies that support our events to spread the word and promote Portugal to thousands of people who are looking for more information about living here,” said Bruce.

“Plans for next year include our first Portuguese language events to take place in Brazil.”
