Over 1.6 tons of food was donated to Portugal’s food bank (Banco Alimentar) at national supermarkets last weekend.
The amount dropped 243 tons compared to the last food drive. Food bank president Isabel Jonet said it was due to Thursday’s holiday which saw many people travelling and changing their consumption habits.
She was thanked both volunteers collecting items and all those who donated.
