Palestinian activist ordered to pay over €12,000 for actions against Lisbon City Hall

An unnamed ‘palestinian activist’ has been fined over €12,000 for actions against Lisbon City Hall. For the flying the Palestinian flag from building and writing the word ‘genocide’ on its façade, he was fined €2,730. But the judge has also fined him a further €10,855 for ‘damages’ to City Hall. The activist was not present for the reading of the judgment (as he had not been present at any of the previous sessions). According to Lusa, these actions took place at a time when a multitude of protests were being mounted, and promoted over social media, by the movements Climáximo, Greve Climática Estudantil and the Collective for the Liberation of Palestine. Since then, however, a number of stiff court rulings, have calmed actions considerably.
