Working mothers
A study has revealed that working mothers have fatter children than those who don’t work.
Researchers of the study, published in the International Journal of Obesity, say: “We found that children were more likely to be overweight if the mother reported that she ‘did not spend enough time with her child because of work’. Long hours of maternal employment, rather than lack of money, may impede young children’s accessibility to healthy foods and physical activity.”
Sperm donors
In the UK, peers and MPs have stated that children born to sperm donors should have this fact written on their birth certificates.
The joint committee believes that children have a right to know if they are born with donor sperm. Phil Willis, a Liberal Democrat MP and chairman of the committee, said: “If parents want to deceive their children that is their decision, but we argue the state should not be involved in that deception.”
