Parliament approves ‘lifting of immunity’ for former Finance minister Fernando Medina

Parliament has today approved the lifting of parliamentary immunity for former Socialist finance minister (and before that mayor of Lisbon) Fernando Medina, so that he can be formally questioned in the context of the long-running ‘Tutti Frutti’ investigation. Medina himself has said he is anxious to explain that, in his opinion, the suspicions of favoritism against him are based on a “gross and inexplicable error”.
