Parliament in critical housing policy votes

Parliament is due to vote today on the new government’s proposals to scrap the majority of housing policies brought in under PS Socialists’ controversial ‘Mais Habitação’ regime. The arguments underpinning the decision are that far from falling in value, house prices have continued to rise while sectors, like Alojamento Local, have been severely penalised. The big question however is how will opposition parties vote: when Mais Habitação was presented, no other party supported it – but the government in those days had an absolute majority. Today, the situation is totally different, with PS Socialists and CHEGA accused of ‘doing everything’ to bring down the new government and take the country to new elections.
