Parliament has stopped short today of revoking the controversial land law (not due to come into effect until the end of the month). Instead, the minority PSD/ CDS-PP government has agreed to work with the opposition (namely PS Socialists) who have proposed various amendments. Cohesion minister Manuel Castro Almeida has said he believes his party will be able to liaise well with the PS on the new law, which he continues to insist will increase the supply of affordable housing (something the nation desperately needs).
