A GERMAN woman has had a pencil removed from her head 45 years after she fell on it. She was four-years-old when she fell on a pencil she was carrying and it went through her skull but luckily missed vital parts of her brain. At the time, doctors refused to operate due to the risk involved but with improved technology today, doctors at a private clinic in Berlin were able to remove three inches of the pencil from her brain. However, the tip had become so wedged in that doctors said it was impossible to remove it. The woman suffered most of her life with nose bleeds and headaches caused by the lead in the pencil and the pressure it was placing on her brain but this has since subsided.
