Unfortunately, not all those do. Two unfortunates, both ‘ginger’, had sad endings even despite the hard and caring work given at their moment of need.
Jenny Clarke, president of APAA, was grieved to learn that two cats, an older one and a kitten, had not survived their ordeals. “Older cat had been the subject of a hit-and-run case. Back broken and left to die. We did everything we could.”
The Association for Protection of Animals Algarve have their hands full but are not always able to do what they want most. Protect. “The little one, abandoned, had dysentery, was very feeble and just didn’t have the strength to pull through.” A ‘carer’ took the kitten in and gave it as much love and nourishment until it died. “The vet was surprised that it had lasted so long.”
Bowed but not deterred. ‘Here to Help’ is APAA’s motto. “As hard as we all try, the team can only do their best when they can.” Ploughing on, Team APAA are getting ready for their busy season ahead. “It seems like all systems go!” Right on. “The van’s loaded and ready.” Their tote-bag competition attracted 40 entrants. Wow! Result fours winners – two canine totes and two feline totes. On sale soon.
