An exhibition of photographs taken during the FNAC Algarve Photography Marathon held in Monchique in June is now on show at the MAR Shopping Algarve in Loulé and can be visited until Sunday, July 14.
The idea of the photographic marathon was to encourage photographers to show that there is still life in Monchique after the devastating fire that ripped through the municipality last summer.
Jovelino Almeida was the winner of the contest, with Vítor da Silva taking second place and Carla Fortes third.
There were also honourable mentions for Marcos Magalhães, João Borges and Francisco Martins.
The jury included José Ramos and Fernando Quintino, two well-known Portuguese photographers.
Herman Gewert, General Manager at MAR Shopping Algarve, said: “This exhibition celebrates photography as art, promotes talent and highlights the passion for the landscapes, traditions and people of the Algarve.
“These are all excellent reasons for people to visit us and see some of the winning photos.”
