It is described as “the most important event of its kind south of the Tejo River” and is open to everyone.
The 18th Portimão Photography Race will take place on May 19 and this year will be divided into two categories, daytime (9am to 8pm) and night-time (8pm to 11pm), with participants able to enter both.
Every year, the event challenges participants to use their creativity to showcase Portimão, Alvor and Mexilhoeira Grande in ways no one has ever seen before.
There will be prizes of up to €600 in photographic equipment, as well as prizes of €300 for youngsters aged 12 to 18 which can then be used for courses at the ETIC Algarve school in Faro.
The best works will be displayed during an exhibition at Portimão museum in the last trimester of 2018.
The event is organised by Portimão council with the support of several businesses and entities such as Ocean Revival, STAP, CLCC, ETIC Algarve, Hotel Júpiter, EGOISTA, Restinga and Grupo de Amigos do Museu de Portimão.
Participants should register by May 16.
