On Saturday, July 29, the date is set for the annual birthday party (started in July 1985!) of Pinetrees Riding Centre, Almancil.
This will consist of the popular Horse and Hound competition where dogs, horses and partners make a team to ride their respective course against the clock to win the prestigious rosettes offered by sponsors Sandy Blue, villa rental specialists.
The fundraising event will benefit the Bombeiros Voluntários (the voluntary fire brigade), the funds being managed by the Association Alerta, and the São Francisco de Assis dogs home in Loulé. A raffle for prestigious prizes will also take place to boost the funds.
Stewart Lindsey is in charge of the catering and hot dogs and nosebag food and drinks will be available. At the end of the afternoon, there will be birthday cake.
The event starts at 4pm with the ever-popular Fancy Dress before moving on to the Horse and Hound.

Charity quiz for Alerta
Meantime, a charity quiz night also in support of Alerta Fire Alert Association will be held on Thursday, July 6 at Victoria’s Silves, at 7.30pm.
