Manuel Pinho, the former minister of economy embroiled in cases alleging corruption, has been deprived of his €26,000 a month pension no less than three times. But now Lisbon appeal court judges have ruled in favour of his defence’s allegations that these seizures are an ‘abuse of power’ – and if everything goes smoothly, Mr Pinho (under house arrest for over two years) should receive all the back-pension payments owing to him since the last seizure (a total of €230,000), say reports.
