PJ dismantle yet another cocaine smuggling operation

PJ police have dismantled a criminal group that was smuggling large quantities of cocaine into Europe, in a police operation that culminated in the arrest of four men and the seizure of 251 kilos of cocaine. In a statement today, the PJ said that the drugs, transported in two sea containers that entered Portugal through the Port of Setúbal, were hidden in “holes located in the wooden structure of cargo pallets that contained a shipment of pineapples from a Latin American country”. The containers were then transported to a warehouse in the centre of the country where the drugs were to be removed from the pallets and then, it seems, transported to Spain. The investigation, which is still ongoing, led to the arrest of four men, all foreigners and aged between 33 and 52, who will be brought before a magistrate for initial questioning/ the application of coercive/ bail measures.
