PJ police have seized more than 500,000 doses of cocaine, detaining three Portuguese citizens and one foreigner at Humberto Delgado Airport, in Lisbon, on suspicion of drug trafficking. In a note sent to the press the police force explains that operation “Deep Cleaning — Take VII” took place “in the last few days”, following an investigation by the National Unit to Combat Drug Trafficking (UNCTE) – with the support of the PSP Airport Security Division. The investigation is being conducted by the Department of Investigation and Criminal Action (DIAP) of Lisbon. Three of the suspects are described as “service providers at the airport”. The cocaine is understood to have originated “in an African country”. Also apprehended were a car, mobile phones, diverse documentation and “a caliber weapon reserved for police forces”. All four detainees are being held in preventive custody.
