Plan to mobilise judges ‘across country’ to resolve backlog of migrant cases

Judges across the country could be mobilised to resolve the massive backlog of cases involving migrant residency applications. According to Público, the Superior Council of Administrative and Tax Courts is meeting today to formulate a plan on how best to tackle the problem (thought to be as many as 40,000 pending cases). One solution involves judges agreeing to take on the work of processing the claims through the summer, without any increase in their salaries.
