The show is guaranteed fun for all the family
This year’s Play in the Parque, “Robin in the Hood”, will take place on Friday, July 5 in the forest behind Barão de São João.
Since 2006, the annual Play in the Parque has become an unmissable event in the Algarve calendar. Produced by Aljezur International School, the cast of this outdoor theatre production includes students, parents and teachers as well as members of the local community. The year 6 children of Barlavento International Primary School, owned and operated by the same directors, will also be taking part.
This year’s show is a twist on the original tale of Robin Hood and his Merry Men. We find Robin in Rottingham Forest practising his rapping in order to impress the love of his life Maid Marian. The Merry Men are rather terrified of Marian’s sassy girlfriends, played by a group of A level Drama students, who are on the lookout for some fun while the evil Prince John, played by Drama teacher Lindsay Gear, and the Sheriff of Rottingham have raised taxes … again!
With a sprinkling of surprise cabaret acts throughout, this year’s show is shaping up to the best yet and guaranteed fun for all the family.
The outdoor performance takes place at Parque de Merendas which is in the forest behind the village of Barão de São João. The audience is invited to arrive from 4.30pm onwards for drinks and bbq snacks, and are advised to bring a blanket or deckchair to sit on. The show itself starts at 6.30pm.
