PM receives prize for European Values

Prime Minister António Costa has received the Prize for European Values from the Socialist Party of Catalonia (Spain) today. His speech in Barcelona warned that the European project, based on values such as solidarity and cohesion, is “under attack” from the right, including the traditionally more moderate right, “which allows itself to be conditioned by populism”, he suggested. “We (meaning Socialists) are in favour of a Europe that is more united, more social, more cohesive, more open to the world, broader and deeper”, he told his audience.
