PM stresses commitment to boosting relationship with France

Portuguese prime minister Luís Montenegro has been in Paris today, where he had a working lunch at the Elysée Palace with President Emmanuel Macron. The trip served to prepare what Mr Macron described as “the next deadlines”, and to determine Europe’s “strategic agenda” and security, military, technological, economic, “of a sovereign Europe, a Europe of decarbonisation, a Europe that protects its borders and helps its allies”. For Portugal’s PM it was an opportunity to express commitment to strengthening the relationship between the two countries, highlighting their European agendas, and the influence in Africa, that they both share. “Our predisposition is not only to continue but to strengthen our ties, so I come here, dear President, with the intention of continuing the relationship we have, but to increase it and to tell you that we have in front of us an area of cooperation that can be deeper and that can serve our peoples,” said Mr Montenegro.
