PM won’t take EU job until inquiry closed

Outgoing Prime Minister António Costa said in Germany on Monday that he is not willing to “hold a public office”, not even at a European level, “as long as the inquiry against him has not been clarified”.

“Until this matter is clarified, I don’t think I should hold public office because I think it’s necessary to preserve the integrity of the institutions, the prestige of the institutions, the trust that everyone places in the institutions,” Costa said.
