ROBERT MURAT, the prime suspect in Madeleine McCann’s disappearance, is due to be interviewed by police again in the next few days as the PJ try to establish the exact moment the four-tear old girl went missing.
Investigators have also re-interviewed several witnesses this week, following on from talks with three friends of the McCann family (see The Resident July 13) last week.
The Resident has learnt that the new interviews are being held “to better identify the whereabouts of the prime suspect at the moment of the disappearance of Madeleine McCann”.
Robert Murat has said he spent all night at home with his mother but some witnesses say he was seen near the apartment. The question for the police now seems to be when Madeleine actually disappeared say sources close to the investigation. The António Toscano lead is also being further investigated by Portuguese police. The Spanish reporter returned to Portugal last week to deliver new documents to the PJ office in Portimão.
El francês
The reporter insists that a movie producer involved in the pornography industry, better known as “El francês”, is key to the case. Toscano alleges that the man is connected with paedophilia cases and has a criminal record in France.
The Resident has learnt that police are also investigating possible connections between “El francês” and the Italian businessman arrested in Valegrand, a village near Cadiz, almost a month ago.
Meanwhile, the McCanns have publicly thanked Harry Potter author JK Rowling, for her support at the launch of the latest wizard novel tomorrow (Saturday).
In an interview on Monday, Gerry McCann said one of their friends had approached her to see if she could do something to help raise the awareness of Madeleine’s disappearance. “JK has asked that a poster is displayed in all the bookshops selling the book”, said Gerry. “We hope very much that this will help us find Madeleine and also raise awareness of other missing children.”
The McCanns also underlined the fact that it s still very important that anyone with information should go to the police, and not them. They refused to give details on the ongoing investigation, explaining that it could “potentially jeopardise the investigation and potentially our daughter.”
