Porches multisports field is the latest to be renovated in Lagoa
Porches’ multisports field has been renovated, boasting a new synthetic grass pitch much like other recently renovated sports fields in the municipality of Lagoa.
The renovation works, which involved replacing the rundown concrete pitch for the new synthetic grass pitch, cost €75,000 and were due to last 120 days, although the municipal council says they were completed ahead of schedule.
“The Porches multisports field is open to the population, ready to be used informally, without the need to book in advance and for free,” the council says in a statement to the press. The field is located near the local primary school and health centre.
This is the fourth multisports field in the municipality to be renovated, following the fields in Carvoeiro, Bela Vista and Lagoa. Says the council, these investments have been carried out as part of the borough’s Strategy of Municipal Sports Development’, which aims to promote physical activity and healthy lifestyle choices and fight sedentariness among all ages.
The council adds that it had expected to move forward with the renovation of the Quinta de S. Pedro multisports field in Mexilhoeira da Carregação before the Porches field, but “the contingencies of the public procurement procedures led to this not happening.” Nonetheless, the local authority says it is “finalising the launch of a tender for the renovation” of the Mexilhoeira da Carregação field.
