Artist René Alvarez Mäkelä (pictured) from Palma de Mallorca, Spain, visited the Faro Porsche dealership on Friday, September 20 accompanied by four of his massive murals and two eye-catching cars.
Porsche have a long-standing history within the arts and have commissioned the famous Spanish artist to spearhead their current Iberian exhibition that sees two uniquely wrapped classics, brightly decorated with René’s urban, hyperrealism touch.
The exhibition includes “Old Rockers Never Die”, a painting featuring the iconic rear view of the 911 with its unmistakable spoiler.
Then, there’s a larger-than-life portrait of the “King of Speed”, Steve McQueen, wearing a golden crown, Butzi Porsche casually sitting on a blue 911 with a halo and the Porsche badge in a funky pop-art theme.
With famous clients such as Madonna, Jorge Lorenzo of Moto GP and NBA star Austin Rivers and international exhibitions, Mäkelä was a natural choice for the Iberian shows. He told us that the commission has been a lot of fun; it allowed him to creatively let loose and do what every little boy would dream of.
The Faro dealership was the only Porsche centre in Portugal that took part in this exhibition that now continues back into Spain.
