The Municipality’s beaches will be monitored by volunteer firefighters from October 1 to May 31.
Portimão’s City Council has implemented a surveillance programme for the Municipality’s beaches outside the bathing season.
From October 1 until May 31, a mobile water rescue and pre-hospital assistance team will ensure the surveillance of the Municipality’s beaches.
This measure is the result of a protocol between the Humanitarian Association of Volunteer Firefighters of Portimão and the City Council, designed to safeguard the months not covered by the government’s bathing season regulations.
With this measure, a unit composed of firefighters duly trained for surveillance and intervention on the coast will operate using municipal technical resources in conjunction with the Maritime Authority.
