Starting on October 14, Portimão Rosa aims to enhance participants’ physical and functional fitness.
According to the local authorities, Portimão will kick off the first edition of the Portimão Rosa on October 14. This programme is designed to offer supervised exercise for those diagnosed with breast cancer during their treatment or recovery stages.
Portimão Rosa is designed to help enhance both physical and functional fitness, which can be negatively impacted by breast cancer treatments, through a tailored and monitored exercise regimen.
The initiative seeks to alleviate treatment-related side effects, including fatigue, reduced muscle strength, limited mobility, alterations in body composition, bone density issues, diminished aerobic capacity, and an overall decline in quality of life.
A vital benefit of this new programme is the tailored exercise regimen. It begins with a detailed evaluation of each prospective participant, primarily focusing on their cardiovascular endurance or muscle strength while considering their specific health conditions.
Registration for the 2024/2025 sports season is now open at the Pavilhão Desportivo da Boavista from Monday to Friday, from 09h00 to 13h00 and 14h00 to 17h00.
The exercise sessions will take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 09h30 to 10h30 or 19h00 to 20h00.
