A fire prevention scheme is currently under way in Portimão, which bombeiros are hoping will make a huge impact on the number of fires that break out in that area this summer. According to a Câmara spokesperson, a forest vigilance protocol was recently signed between the Câmara and Portimão bombeiros, to ensure the region’s safety. Apparently, there will be two cars with two bombeiros in each and two motorbikes on patrol in Portimão’s most vulnerable locations, from now until September 15. The local fire fighters are patrolling the area in shifts, ensuring that, between the hours of 8am and 8pm, the area is under constant watch. For more information about the scheme, call Portimão Câmara on 282 470 832 or Portimão bombeiros on 282 420 130.
