After a long break due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Portimão’s monthly market (Mercado Mensal) and biweekly flea market (Feira das Velharias) are returning to the town’s fairground near Portimão Arena in October.
The monthly market will return on October 4 between 8am and 3pm, taking place on the first Monday of every month.
“It will again be possible for visitors to purchase clothes, shoes, knick-knacks, jewellery, seasonal fruit and veg, cheeses, smoked sausages (chouriças) and much more,” the local council says in a communiqué to the press.
Portimão’s flea markets will return a day earlier (October 3) and two weeks later on October 17, taking place from 8.30am to 12.30pm.
These markets have been held at the local fairground since 2001 and have become popular events, where visitors can find items for all tastes and wallets.
The October 3 Feira das Velharias will feature only vendors who had booked their stall for the March 2020 edition, which was cancelled due to the outbreak of Covid.
Those looking to book a stall for a future market can visit the administrative section of Portimão’s municipal market, which is open Monday to Friday, from 9am to 1pm and 2pm to 4.30pm.
