Registrations for exhibitors end this Thursday (March 31)
Portimão is preparing to host an Easter market (Mercadinho da Páscoa) between April 9 and 16 at Jardim 1º de Dezembro in front of the municipal theatre TEMPO.
Organised by Teia D’Impulsos association and Portimão Council, the event will feature regional products and handicraft with a focus on Easter treats, such as chocolates, almond, liqueurs, and Portugal’s famous Easter bread ‘folar’.
There are many different types of ‘folar’, from sweet to savoury, although those enjoyed in the Algarve are mostly sweet. There is a variety made in Olhão – Folar de Olhão – which was named one of Portugal’s Seven Sweet Wonders in 2019.
The market will also feature live entertainment, from music, dance and theatre performances to Easter egg hunts.
Say organisers, the goal is to “promote the best that the Algarve has to offer.”
The market will be open from 3pm to 9pm and admission will be free.
Registrations for exhibitors are open until this Thursday (March 31).
