The event will feature youth teams of several clubs, including Benfica, Sporting, Bayer 04 Leverkusen, Crystal Palace, Derby County and Southampton
Following in the footsteps of previous successful editions, the U14 Portimão International Cup 2024 is returning to the Algarve between November 1 and 3, attracting youth teams from several major football clubs once again.
Matches will be played at the Major David Neto youth football centre in Portimão and at the Mexilhoeira Grande sports complex.
According to the municipal council of Portimão, the tournament is set to attract widespread attention, drawing not only players but also their families, friends, and coaching staff to Portimão. Their presence is forecast to give a “significant boost to the local economy,” with more than 3,000 foreign spectators expected.
This fourth edition of the competition will feature 36 teams – eight more than in 2023 – hailing from countries such as England, the Netherlands, Denmark, Italy, the United States, Hungary, Finland, Lithuania, Spain, Kazakhstan, Wales, France, Germany, Austria, Poland, Canada, Australia, and Portugal.
Among the standout teams are Bayer 04 Leverkusen, Red Bull Salzburg, Parma, Real Betis, Crystal Palace, Derby County, Southampton, and ADO Den Haag, along with Portuguese clubs like Benfica, Sporting, Vitória de Guimarães, Portimonense, Mexilhoeira Grande, and Alvorense.
Scouts from prominent national and international clubs are expected to attend, keeping a close eye on the performance of over 600 rising stars from around the world. These young talents will be supported by their coaching teams in an event organised by Portimonense Sporting Clube and Live Adventure, with backing from the Municipality of Portimão.”
